The team at Ubuntu project invites artists to participate in an upcoming virtual art exhibition, Art Bridging Borders, curated by the Ubuntu Project, a collaboration between Black artists, educators, and scholars from Kenya and the United States. The belief behind the art is that the artistic perspective and creative work would be a valuable addition to the Ubuntu Project showcase. Below are some details about the exhibition.
Art Bridging Borders is the first virtual exhibition through The Ubuntu Project, which aims to create intercultural understanding and collaboration between artists of the African diaspora. Building a communal space rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, the project seeks submissions to this exhibition to respond to this philosophy, emphasizing on humanity and connection as Black people.
The understanding of anti-Blackness worldwide fuels the desire to curate a space to support Black artists and highlight Black creative production across countries and institutions. As a community-building effort, the team hopes to create a space that will foster dialogue and growing relationships as everyone shares their creative practices and experiences with each other.
The exhibition will be held from March 15-April 12, 2024 and hosted on the website Art.Spaces. Artists can submit their work to the following Google form. The deadline to submit will be February 16, 2024. The team welcomes all media (2D, 3D, digital, mixed media, etc.).
Artists can submit up to two (2) artworks for consideration. Specifications are based on ArtSpaces’ requirements, which include the following:
- Image Requirements: Please submit web-optimized JPG files with a resolution of 72 dpi. Scale your files to a size of 900 to 1500 pixels, limit to 5 MB per image.
