Hon. Aisha Jumwa, Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Culture,The Arts and Heritage earlier today met with a section of creative artists who paid a courtesy call at her offices. They deliberated on how the government through the ministry will help artists earn a living from their work and how the ministry can engage in capacity building to nurture their talents.
The artists shared their concerns with the CS and sought ways in which the Ministry of Gender, Culture and the Arts can support them. They appreciated that artists play a critical role in the country, and indeed, the creative industry and that the Kenya Kwanza administration was keen on growing talents.

The artists also expressed concerns that they do not get their dues despite investing in the industry that puts food on the table for them. The parties present deliberated on the ways in which the ministry can address the issues raised.
The CS assured the artists that the Government is committed to ensuring that artists are not only supported, but also are paid what is owed to them.
